Approach
The audience for this site is the reason the performance work on it is not optional. If a page costs a meaningful fraction of someone’s data bundle, the resource is not actually accessible, however good the writing is.
So every article route is text-first, images are lazy and heavily compressed, and the forum degrades to plain server-rendered HTML when JavaScript has not arrived yet.
